Central Fund of Canada (CEF) is used as a proxy for gold bullion, although it holds both vaulted silver and gold, since none of the gold ETFs in the US has existed for ten years.
These data are for ten years through Thursday, August 25, 2011. For similar data since 1993, see Re-thinking the Set and Forget Portfolio. This is the portfolio I intend to maintain. I am fully invested in the gold bullion, PTTRX, and VFIJX parts, and I am gradually adding to PRPFX, FPACX, and LSBDX.
